Jet set Willy was the second game to be released in a series called the "Miner Willy Series". The First game Manic Miner achieved critical acclaim upon it's release. The Miner Willy series of games have proved to be some of the most popular games ever. According to Uncyclopedia this classic game was designed by Matthew Smith, who was considered by many as the games design genius of his era. It was published and developed by Software Products, Jet Set Willy was released in 1984, and is a single player game of the platform genre. Jet Set Willy was a massive step forward for the platform game genre. The gamer plays the role of Willy, who's objective is to clean up his house after a party. Willy has a mansion, and most of the house remains unexplored. The house is home to some rather peculiar creatures who Willy must avoid at all costs, as contact with them will result in losing a life. To guide Willy around the house is simple, right, left and jump are the only controls there are. Although the controls are simple the game is anything but. Situated throughout the various levels 60 in total are collectibles, such as keys, that Willy has to collect before moving on to the next level. Along with Ropes, degradable platforms, wild and unusual animals, it's a real challenge. Back in 1984 Crash Magazine said that Jet Set Willy is a high point in the development of games. They expected nothing to top this game for addictivity, fluent graphics, responsiveness and sheer imagination. A lot changed since 1984 didn't it.
